Kirstine Riding MSc, BSc
Kirstine Riding has an MSC in Housing Policy and Management and BSc in Building Management.
She is a housing professional with an in-depth understanding of housing and community engagement within rural communities, especially as they apply to enabling affordable rural housing.
Kirstine has undertaken a varied scope of housing research in rural areas to influence a wide range of stakeholders from parish and town councils, local and county authorities to central Government and their Regional Agencies.

A review of the Rural Housing Enabler programme in North Yorkshire for North Yorkshire Housing Partnership - Objectives to establish if the programme is fit for purpose, offers value for money, delivers homes on the ground in an efficient and effective way, continues innovative practices and is worthy of future investment.
Affordable Housing Policy to Practice Paper for Action for Market Towns - Policy to practice paper, ‘a toolkit’ explaining the issue of identifying housing need and enabling affordable housing in market towns, in more detail. For practitioners working within market towns as an introduction to the policy context at a national, regional and local level and providing information on how to influence policy at a local level.
Rural Housing Need Survey with Community Information Events on affordable housing for Wyre Borough Council – Working with ARC4, to undertake a detailed assessment of rural housing need in Wyre with Community Information Events on affordable housing to raise awareness of the benefits of rural affordable housing to meet identified housing need. Five Community Information Events are to be held bringing together residents, partner housing associations of Wyre Borough Council, Wyre Housing Services, Community Futures and ARC4 to provide information on the type and possible benefits of affordable housing provision, the importance of inputting into the housing need survey, housing and community engagement advice.
Rural Housing Need Survey with Community Information Events on affordable housing for Stockton on Tees Borough Council - Working with ARC4, to undertake a detailed assessment of rural housing need in Stockton on Tees with Community Information Events on affordable housing to raise awareness of the benefits of rural affordable housing to meet identified housing need. Four Community Information Events were held in total bringing together residents, partner housing associations of Stockton Borough Council, Stockton Housing Services, Tees Valley Rural Community Council and ARC4 to provide information on the type and possible benefits of affordable housing provision, the importance of inputting into the housing need survey, housing and community engagement advice.
Assessing Rural Housing Needs for National Housing Federation – Working with Rural Housing Solutions, research commissioned by the National Housing Federation as part of their rural housing campaign to explore how local authorities assess the housing needs of their rural communities. A series of recommendations to improve access and availability of data for local authorities were made and to assist local authorities improve their rural housing evidence base a Self Assessment Checklist has been devised. The Checklist has three sections: Evidence Collection, Application of Evidence and, Understanding Evidence.
