Claudia Gilbert Planning and Development

Claudia Gilbert is a qualified planner with many years of experience working in the fields of planning, regeneration and housing.  As a planning consultant she provides advice to public and private sector clients on a range of schemes and issues.  As a freelance Planning Inspector she determines planning appeals on behalf of the Secretary of State for the Environment.  She previously worked as a development manager for Urban Splash, overseeing the development of large scale mixed use regeneration projects such as Manchester’s New Islington.  With this range of experience, she brings both an in-depth knowledge of the planning system, its policies and principles, and an overarching understanding of the development process.  She is particularly interested in the promotion of high quality sustainable urban design, well-integrated affordable housing and community cohesion.

 

Recent skills and experience: 

  • Experience of real world housing delivery from the perspective of a developer (Urban Splash).
  • Experience of developer partnership working with the public sector, an understanding of the often conflicting agendas and the best ways to resolve them to achieve the best results (eg Urban Splash’s delivery partnership with English Partnerships and New East Manchester).
  • Awareness of latest planning policy and the principles driving it.
